The Manta
Sleek and contemporary, the Manta is available in black glass or stainless steel as well as 25 colours of Corian®. As with all Airone’s Italian extractors, the 60cm or 90cm wide hood offers a host of technological benefits including four speed soft touch control, anti-grease anodized aluminium filters, circular active charcoal filters and dichroic spots. At a power level of 500 / 520 m3/h the Manta operates at noise levels from 46 to 60 dB (max).
Editor’s Note: As well as The Manta, other Airone models that can be customized with 25 colours of Corian® include the Merak, Miro, Turandot and Nabucco. Also from Airone, the Parsifal downdraft can have a top plate of 72 Corian colours. From the Faber range, the Main hood comes in 25 colours.

Inspired by the trend for animal prints, De Ferranti has created a tile range that’s both bold and sophisticated. The Serengeti Collection is available in four very dramatic designs.
These boldly coloured animal print tiles from De Ferranti’s Serengeti Collection include four designs, but unlike some products inspired by the animal kingdom these tiles are indisputably stylish.
Asked the secret to their sophisticated look, Alvaro de Ferranti, replied: ‘It’s the exquisite materials used and the high quality of the workmanship of each thatreally lifts these above and beyond your average animal print surface material.’
Uses: Walls. Interiors. Bathrooms. Feature panels. Floors Size: Supplied as a 30cm square tile or as a seamless interlocking surface.
Techniques: opus sectile, inlay or mosaic.

The Serengeti Collection is made from sandstone and black marble and – here’s the big plus for interior designers – each of the designs is also available in a variety of traditional tile techniques including opus sectile (shown left), inlay or mosaic versions thus allowing for subtle differences of texture. Opus sectile (an ancient Roman technique of assembling pieces of stone) typically uses pieces that are shaped rather differently and usually a bit larger than the tesserae which are used to create mosaics.
